Analyst Notes

The Nyngan Scandium Project near Nyngan, NSW, is one of the world's largest and highest-grade scandium-only deposits. The ore is a scandiferous laterite formed by deep weathering of dunite/peridotite, with Sc concentrating in the saprolite horizon at grades of 300-400 ppm ScO3. A 2016 Pre-Feasibility Study outlined a standalone scandium oxide plant targeting approximately 38 t/yr ScO3. The project remains development-stage, with commercialisation contingent on securing long-term offtake from aerospace alloy and SOFC markets.
